COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council adopted a resolution on Monday night which supports the submission of an application for a $300,000 state grant that would be used to help fund renovations at Rotary Park.
The money being sought in the grant is the maximum allowed by the state. The action was taken following a public hearing on the application.
PM Blough of Grand Haven put together a preliminary master plan for the Rotary Park project and developer Pam Blough said it would be sometime towards the end of the year before the city finds out if they were awarded the grant.
The resolution states the City will provide any additional funding needed for completion of the project. The staff has proposed allocating over $343,000 in cannabis tax revenue as the local match.
According to a letter from City Manager Keith Baker to the Council for Monday’s meeting, the proposed renovation project would include the construction of a new public boat launch, a relocated ADA accessible kayak and canoe launch as well as improved and increased vehicle parking for boaters and park visitors.
Terry Reen from the North Chain Lake Association said they were behind the project.
The Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant application would go to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
