COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A long-time Coldwater resident and supporter of tennis has made a donation to the Tennis Court Renovation Fund within the Branch County Community Foundation.
Gonzie Cardenas and her late husband Ray were founding members of the Branch County Tennis Club. Ray Cardenas was a successful insurance agent in Coldwater and Gonzie had a active real estate career.
The couple played a crucial part of the 1976 group that raised funds for the Heritage Park courts. Their grandchildren Anna and Alex both played varsity tennis in high school.
The donation will go towards the construction of eight new courts that are scheduled to be ready in August.
