COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – One week after the Coldwater Planning Commission approved a Special Land Use Permit with numerous contingencies for the proposed Trail Tree manufactured home park expansion between Seeley and Smith Streets, Coldwater City Council member Jim Knaack told the Council on Monday night how frustrated and angry some second ward residents are.
Last Monday’s action came after a lengthy public hearing that featured many negative comments about the proposed expansion and the way it’s been handled. Nearly 30 nearby residents turned out for last Monday’s meeting to express their frustrations.
A special land use permit was required for this project since the property was zoned A-A One-Family Agricultural Residential District. Because it was a special land use application, the petition did not require City Council review or approval and Knaack said that has upset many people.
He said one of the big issues is to the west and all of the new homes on Thompson Blvd.
The request was submitted by Michigan Trail Tree Village Property, LLC.. The plans call for 77 units to be built on just under 18 acres of vacant land.
The final site plan with all of the approved contingencies is scheduled to come back to the Planning Commission next month.
