MASON, MI (WTVB) – In track and field, Coldwater’s boys finished first at the Mason Division Two Regionals on Friday. Meet organizers did not post the boys individual results at www.mhsaa.com nor were any team results reported but we do have individual results for the Coldwater athletes.
Coldwater coach Jeff Schorfhaar says they had six individuals and a relay team qualify for the state meet.
Coldwater’s Shuaib Aljabaly won the 3200 while Jaden Coney won the long jump. Meanwhile, Matt Sowles, Zack Murphy, Ben Fagen and Jordan Parkinson teamed up to win the 3200 relay in a school record time of 8:05. Sowles was also second in the 800. Coldwater had three finish in the top five for the shot put. Sam DeMeester was second, Connor Covert was third and Zach Gipple was fourth. Covert finished second in the discus.
Coldwater had several top ten finishes in the girls meet.

In baseball, Kalamazoo Christian took control with a four run second inning and they hung on to defeat the Bronson Vikings 5-4 on Friday. Ethan Cossairt and Brett Sikorski both had two hits for Bronson. Sikorski also had two RBI’s. The loss dropped Bronson’s record to 19-7.
In softball, winning pitcher Adyson Lasky went the distance in the circle as Bronson edged Kalamazoo Christian 3-2 on Friday. Kelsey Robinson had three singles and a stolen base while Lasky and Kaitlyn Czajkowski both had two hits. Bronson is now 15-10 for the season.
Coldwater’s JV golf team won the Jamboree hosted by Harper Creek at the Binder Park Golf Course on Friday evening with a winning score of 173. Harper Creek took 2nd at 200, Pennfield was 3rd at 210 and Sturgis rounded out the scoring with a 222. Coldwater was led by medalist Kyle Herman who fired a round of 41.Tanner Bowers took 2nd place overall with a 42, Jacob Fair and Alec Keplinger tied for 3rd at 45’s, Brendan Hanna carded a 48 good enough for 6th place and Dillon Gagnon tied for 18th place with a 58.
