COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Department Posse and the Hillsdale County Mounted Division will be hosting the statewide Pony Express ride in Coldwater between June 8-11, 2016.
The ride is comprised of members of the Michigan Sheriff’s Mounted Association and it has been held annually since 1962. The event takes place every year during the second weekend in June.
A mail ride will be held on Saturday morning June 11 with a parade of horses in downtown Coldwater at 1:00 p.m. that afternoon. The parade will be followed by a horse show at the Branch County Fairgrounds.
The Pony Express ride raises money through raffles or silent auctions for selected recipients.
As much as $12,000 has been raised in past years.
