COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A suspect in the break-in at a home on Herricksville Road in September 2014 was arraigned last Friday in Branch County District Court.
33-year-old Shawn Jacob Ort of North Adams is facing charges of second degree home invasion, second degree conspiracy to commit home invasion and receiving and concealing stolen property.
According to court documents, there was at least one other suspect involved. Items taken included saws, an air compressor and a hand gun.
Ort denied knowledge of the break in during an interview with Michigan State Police investigators.
Prosecutors also filed an habitual offender sentencing enhancement due to Ort’s history of criminal convictions in Hillsdale County.
A probable cause hearing is set for May 24, 2016 while a preliminary exam will be held on May 31.
