ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – Coldwater was held to three hits on Monday night as they lost at Angola 3-0. The Hornets scored twice in the first inning and added an insurance run in the sixth. Katie Stanton had two singles while Stacy Guzy collected the only other hit for the Cardinals. Pitcher Tyler Scheid went the distance and struck out six.
The loss dropped Coldwater’s record to 21-5.

Quincy 3, Hillsdale 1
Quincy’s Hannah Kaser scored a hat trick on the night starting with her first goal at the 23:58 mark which was unassisted. Kaser scored again at 2:05 off a cross from Cailyn Cook. The Orioles led 2-0 at half. “We had some great opportunities all night and just couldn’t quite put it in. A lot of our players played the full 80 minutes which is a lot of running. We gave great effort all night”, said Quincy Coach Tim Hart Haberl.
The second half saw the Hornets cut the lead at the 10:30 mark with a long shot over the Keeper’s head. Quincy came right back as Kaser scored her 3rd goal of the night off another assist by Cook at 7:37. Quincy outshot Hillsdale 15-5 on the night. “I thought our defense did a terrific job tonight. We controlled the ball and made some big runs that started from the defensive side” Hart Haberl said. Haley Askew had 3 saves on the night for Quincy.
Quincy is now 7-5-2 on the year and 3-3-2 in the ISL Conference. The Orioles next game is Thursday at home against Hanover Horton.
The Coldwater girls JV soccer team fell at non-conference Vicksburg Monday night 5-1. Hunter Jenkot scored the Lady Cardinals only goal. The JV record is now 6-7-1 on the season. They’ll host Charlotte along with the varsity team on Senior Night Wednesday.
In girls tennis, Bronson finished seventh overall in the BCS league championships.
