BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – For the fourth straight morning, Branch County will be under a Freeze Warning on Thursday as temperatures are expected to drop below freezing.
The Freeze Warning is in effect from 2:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m.. The National Weather Service says sub-freezing temperatures as low as 31 are expected. A few locations could briefly drop into the upper 20s.
The Wednesday morning low at the Branch County Memorial Airport dropped to 29 degrees.
Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly.
Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
