BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The train kept rolling for the Coldwater Cardinals girls softball team on Wednesday as they romped to a Interstate 8 doubleheader sweep of the Pennfield Panthers winning by scores of 18-0 and 17-1.
Coldwater’s Alexis Bills threw a four inning no-hitter in the opening game as she struck out 11.
Rylie VanAken belted two home runs while Danika Cox and Bills also homered as part of the Cardinals 16 hit attack.
Mackenzie Scheid was the winning pitcher in the second game which also lasted four innings.
VanAken hit her third homer of the doubleheader in the second game as Coldwater collected 17 hits. Scheid and Rylee Rice also homered in game two.
VanAken had five hits in the doubleheader and six RBI’s.
The Coldwater J.V. girls softball team also had the brooms working on Wednesday as they swept Colon 18-2 and 15-0. Mackenzie Searing and Mya Porter were the winning pitchers.
