UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – There’s bad news and good news concerning fireworks this summer in the Village of Union City.
First the bad news. Because of the restoration work that will be taking place at Alumni Field this summer, there will be no Independence Day Celebration fireworks this year in Union City. The Union City fireworks show has always been held on the night of July 3.
Now the good news. The Village is planning the largest fireworks display in Union City history at dusk on July 22 as part of the 100 Dam Years celebration of the Riley Dam.
According to a post on the Village’s Facebook page, it will be a special show with special features related directly to the dam.
The event will be sponsored by the Union Lake Association, Union City Rotary, Southern Michigan Bank and Trust and the Village of Union City.
The Union City Schools will be assisting with a shuttle service between the high school and the dam since parking is limited and restricted at the dam.
