KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – A former Branch County resident was ordered to serve 33 years and nine months in a federal prison by U.S. District Court Judge Paul Maloney in Kalamazoo on Monday after he entered a guilty plea in a case involving a conspiracy to sexually assault a mentally and physically disabled teenage girl.
A court spokesperson says 41-year-old Shane Scott pled guilty in January to a charge of coercion or enticement of a female and attempted coercion and enticement of a minor.
Scott will also be placed on a 20 years of supervised release once he gets out of prison. 48-year-old Linda Ehle of Batavia Township was sentenced March 21, 2016 in Branch County Circuit Court to a term of between 38 months and seven years after she entered a no contest plea to a charge of using a computer to commit a crime.
In exchange for her no contest plea, two child abuse counts were dismissed by the prosecution.
Ehle was arrested last November following a Michigan State Police investigation. Investigators said at the time that she conspired with Scott to engage in child abusive activity.
Scott was an inmate at the Ionia Correctional Facility. Authorities said letters exchanged between Ehle and Scott were intercepted.
