QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – In the ISL Conference Monday, the Quincy Orioles girls soccer team tied with Hanover Horton 1-1. Hanover Horton then out shot Quincy 8-7 on penalty kicks in sudden death to take the extra league point in the standings.
Quincy coach Tim Hart says “It was really an exciting game. Many of our girls played almost the entire 80 minutes due to injuries but they didn’t let up the entire time”. The Orioles struck first as Cailyn Cook scored just 43 seconds into the game on an assist from Hannah Kaser. Hanover Horton then tied it at the 21:56 mark in the first half which is how the game ended.
The shootout saw both teams make 4 of 5 shots. In the second group of players Hanover Horton won 4-3 in sudden death.
Quincy netminder Haley Askew had over 20 saves. The Orioles had 10 shots on goal. Quincy is now 2-1-2 in the ISL Conference and 5-2-2 ocerall.

Prairie Heights 13, Coldwater 5 (1st game)
Coldwater 16, Prairie Heights 1 (2nd game)
Coldwater’s J.V. girls softball team split a doubleheader with Prairie Heights as they dropped the opener 13-5 but came back to win the nightcap 16-1. Carly Duke had four RBI’s in the twinbill. Jay Snyder had four hits and three RBI’s. Second game winning pitcher Cheyenne Akers had two doubles and two RBI’s to help her own cause. The J.V. Cardinals are now 15-4. They play at Jonesville on Thursday.

The April 14 game between Coldwater and Marshall that was suspended because of darkness has been scheduled to resume next Monday afternoon. Play will resume in the fourth inning with the score tied 1-1. The 12-1 Cardinals defeated Marshall in the opening game of the twinbill 7-3 in 11 innings.
