COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater dropped to 12-14 overall, 5-3 in the Interstate 8 baseball standings after Parma Western swept both ends of their doubleheader Tuesday at Lowe Field, 5-1 and 6-o.
In the first game, the Cardinals broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning when Drake Thornton’s sacrifice fly brought home Brady Massey. The Panthers answered with three runs in the fifth inning, off losing pitcher Cole Heinemann, and added two insurance runs in the seventh. Massey doubled, and Owen Tappenden had two hits.
Western’s pitchers allowed only three Coldwater hits in the nightcap – singles from Thornton and Jack Ruden and a double from Cole Heinemann. Tappenden was tagged with the loss.
The Cardinals will host DeWitt, Haslett, and Grand Rapids Christian Saturday during the Stout and Sons Invitational.
