JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles went 2-1 and made it to the finals of the Al Glick Baseball tournament on Saturday.
The Orioles defeated Jackson in their first game 5-1. Brady Mescher shut down the Vikings over six innings to earn the win. He gave up five hits and struck out seven.
Dreden Feltner came on in the seventh inning to record the save. Feltner also provided the game biggest hit with a two run single.
Mescher added two hits.
Quincy defeated Springport 4-2 in their second game. Feltner gave up two hits in four innings of work. Ryan Kempter entered the game in the fifth inning and held Springport scoreless over the final three innings to get the win.
The Orioles banged out 10 hits. The big hit came from Riley Miner who hit a run scoring triple in the fifth inning. Mescher stayed hot with three hits and two RBIs.
Quincy was shut out by state ranked Jackson Lumen Christi 10-0 in the championship game as the Titans scored eight runs in the third inning. The lone Oriole hit came from Grant Holroyd who ended up with four hits on the day.
With the weekend action, the Orioles move their season record to 14-5 and return the the diamond on Tuesday with a Big 8 doubleheader at Bronson.
