FREMONT, IN (WTVB) – A motorcyclist was killed north of Fremont late Friday night. It was the second fatal accident in Steuben County within 24 hours.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened on Fremont Road north of 700 North at about 11:10pm.
Rescue crews found a 1990 Harley Davidson motorcycle in a field as well as the driver who was found to be deceased.
It’s believed the driver was traveling south on Fremont Road when the motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree head on.
The driver, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Steuben County Coroner’s office from blunt force trauma.
The crash remains under investigation by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
Fremont Police and firefighters, the Steuben County Coroner’s Office and Steuben County Communications assisted the Sheriff’s Department.
