COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals girls softball team honored four seniors and wrapped up the Interstate 8 championship on Tuesday evening as they swept Jackson Lumen Christi in a doubleheader by scores of 10-0 and 15-0.
Seniors Karlie Knisely, Rylee Rice, Alexis Bills and Brooklyn Kerry were honored in between games of the twin bill.
The Cardinals showed no ill effects of playing their second doubleheader in two nights.
Rice and Mya Porter both had three hits and three RBIs in the first game while Kenzie Scheid had two hits and also drove in three runs.
Bills was the winning pitcher as she recorded eight strike outs.
Porter threw a four inning no hitter in the second game as she struck out six and only faced 13 batters.
Bills swung the hot bat in game two as she belted two homers and drove in six runs.
Porter had three hits and two RBIs. Scheid had two hits and scored three runs. Morgan Dancer had a two-run single.
Coldwater’s record improves to 28-8 overall, 13-1 in the Interstate 8. They close the regular season with a home doubleheader against Otsego on Thursday.
