COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school golf, Coldwater finished second on Wednesday in the first Interstate 8 Jamboree of the season which was hosted by Jackson Northwest at the Hankard Hills Golf Course in Jackson. Jackson Lumen Christi won the meet with a 152 followed by the Cardinals with a 165. Parma Western was third at 177.
Leading the way for Coldwater was Cam Ruge with a 39 followed by Nathan Waterbury at 40, Keagan Dwyer shot a 42, Nolan Duda had a 44, Nick Galliers carded a 45 and Alec Keplinger rounded out the scoring with a 52. Coldwater’s varsity squad will travel to Marshall on Friday to participate in the Redhawk Invitational.
Coldwater’s JV golf team hosted the second Jamboree of the season and came away with the win shooting a round of 187. Lakeview came in second with a 197 followed by Harper Creek at 203 and Sturgis at 221.
Leading the way for Coldwater were Tanner Bowers and Collin Warner who each shot 45’s. Kyle Herman shot a 48, Jacob Fair had a 49, Brendan Hanna and Tristin Stukey each a 54’s, Collin Outwater had a 60, Joe Hicks had a 61 and Dillon Gagnon rounded out the scoring with a round of 68. Coldwater’s JV’s travel to Sturgis Thursday for another Jamboree held at the Island Hills Golf Course.

Marshall 6, Coldwater 1
Coldwater suffered their first loss of the season Wednesday night, losing at Marshall 6-1. The Cardinal’s lone goal in their Interstate 8 Conference opener came from Madison Marsh, assisted by Carlee Larimer with six minutes left in the first half. Coldwater trailed 3-1 at the half. Nadia Kiersey made 15 saves in goal as Marshall outshot the Cardinals 24-5. Coldwater’s record is now 2-1-3 on the season and 0-1 in the conference. They’ll play in varsity only action at Pennfield Friday night.
The Coldwater JV team also suffered its first loss of the season at Marshall, losing 8-0.

Boys- Concord 68, Quincy 65Girls- Concord 76, Quincy 61
Quincy winners in the boys meet were Jonathan Purvis in the shot put with a distance of 40 feet one inch and in the discus with a distance of 121 feet, Drake Crabbs in the pole vault with a height of nine feet, Ryan Gibson in the 100 with a time of 12.1 and Nathan Nohr in the 1600 with a time of 4:47.6. Quincy’s 800 relay team made up of Michael Fisher, Gibson, Luke Rufenacht and Bryce Ruhl won in a time of 1:39.6.
Quincy got wins in the girls meet from Kayla Hayes in the shot put with a distance of 33 feet, one inch; Jessica Holcomb in the long jump with a distance of 14 feet, 9 ½ inches; Taylor Holcomb in the high jump with a height of four feet, four inches and from Katie Spaulding in the pole vault with a height of eight feet and in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.7. Quincy’s 1600 relay team of Harmony Harpster, Mackenzie Horsfall, Spaulding and Claire Supianoski won in a time of 4:33.2.

Bronson got wins in the boys meet from Courtney Salesman in the high jump and the 440; Tier Spano in the long jump, Kyle Roberts in the 100, Blake Bucklin in the mile and the 880, Gavin Alger in the 330 hurdles and Marcus Broom in the two mile. The Vikings won all three relay races.
Bronson winners in the girls meet were Danielle Fisher in the pole vault and the 110 hurdles, Ashlee Hoath in the shot put, Alyssa Hagen in the 100 and the 220, Xochiti Garcia in the mile and two mile, Kelsy Sikorski in the 330 hurdles and Jillian Pyles in the 880. Just like the boys, the Bronson girls won all three relay races.
