COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball Tuesday, Coldwater improved to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the Interstate 8 with a doubleheader sweep at Battle Creek Pennfield by scores of 11-7 and 5-0. The sweep was highlighted by a five inning no hitter tossed in the nightcap by Nick Shaw who struck out 14 batters. Brendan Spangler had two hits for Coldwater.
After trailing 5-3 entering the seventh inning, the Cardinals rallied for seven runs to win the first game 11-7. Shaw had three hits while Kameron Miller and Collin Torrey both drove in three runs.
Coldwater’s J.V. team also swept Pennfield by scores of 10-3 and 12-3. Alex Everett and Austin Spray were the winning pitchers as the J.V. Cards improved to 6-1. Lucas Santure got the save in the first game and had three hits with two RBI’s. Oliver Winter also drove in two runs in the opener and had two singles in the nightcap. Santure and Spray both had two RBI’s in the second game.
Bronson 17, White Pigeon 0 (1st game)Bronson 10, White Pigeon 0 (2nd game)
The Vikings swept a twinbill from White Pigeon by scores of 17-0 and 10-0 as they improved to 6-1. Daniel McMichael and Kameron Haviland combined on a four inning no-hitter in the opener. McMichael struck out eight in three innings of work to get the win in the opener. Brenden Bell had three hits and drove in three runs. Second game winning pitcher Tyler Roussey tossed a five-inning one hitter. He also drove in three runs.

Seth Bruce struck out 12 to get the win for the Chargers.

Coldwater scored a doubleheader sweep at Battle Creek Pennfield by scores of 14-0 and 9-8 as their record improved to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in the Interstate 8.Darlene Horn was the winning pitcher in both games. Payton Watson had nine RBI’s in the twinbill. She tripled and drove in four runs in the opener while Kendall Galloway had three singles. Watson drove in five runs in the second game which included the game winning RBI in the top of the seventh.
The J.V. Cards swept Pennfield by scores of 9-0 and 16-1 as they improved to 11-1. Tyler Scheid and Cheyenne Akers were the winning pitchers. Scheid also drove in three runs in the first game and struck out eight batters. Akers and Carly Duke drove in two runs in the nightcap.
Bronson 13, White Pigeon 2 (1st game)Bronson 15, White Pigeon 2 (2nd game)
Bronson improved to 4-3 with a doubleheader sweep of White Pigeon by scores of 13-2 and 15-2. Allie Sikorski and Kiera Lasky were the winning pitchers. Payton Robinson belted two homers in the twinbill and drove in four runs. Kaitlyn Czajkowski had eight RBI’s.

Coldwater 5, Hastings 3
The Cardinals got victories from Emma Grife, Sofia Mongardi and Merlyn Johnson in singles matches. The two wins in doubles came from Allison Eastmead and Emily Foulk as well as from Mikaela Daoud and Faith Herendeen.
Buchanan 6, Bronson 2
Clare Mayes won at number four singles as did the number one doubles team of Alana Cranson and Karly Showalter.

—GIRLS SOCCER—
Quincy 9, Jackson Christian 3Hannah Kiser and Payton Hines both scored twice for the Orioles. Also scoring for Quincy were Cailyn Hines, Haley Bean, Ally Parrish and Cailyn Cook. Mackenzie Moore and Cook both had two assists. Quincy outshot JC 16-5 and Haley Askew had 4 saves in goal. Quincy is now 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the ISL Conference.
