COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioners approved pay raises for employees that belong to a pair of unions on Tuesday.
Commissioner Jon Houtz said the raises would go to members of the Service Employees International Union and the Governmental Employees Labor Council. The raises are effective on Wednesday, April 13.
In addition, with the upcoming retirement of Chief Deputy Treasurer Julie Yearling, commissioners approved a request by Treasurer Ann Vrablic to fill the position effective next Monday.
The non-union position will have a starting wage of just over $35,700.
Also during Tuesday’s meeting, the commissioners approved hiring two temporary part time employees at the Michigan State University Extension office for six weeks while another employee is on medical leave. The two temporary workers would each work 14 hours per week at $12.50 an hour.
Two appointments were approved by commissioners. Scott Morrison was appointed to the Building Inspection Board of Appeals. The term expires in May 2019. Meanwhile, Butch Wilber was named to the Veterans Affairs Board. His term will expire in December 2016.
