Ralph Cleon Smoker, 87, of Bronson, passed away Tuesday May 30, 2023, at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Dan Hyman officiating.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 5, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 p.m., with the Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m., at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson.
Ralph was born August 11, 1935, in Bronson, MI to Florian and Anna (Chuprum) Smoker. He married Pauline “Mary” Brodt on October 25, 1958; she preceded him in death June 28, 2010. He later married Phyllis (Palmateer) Barnett on December 12, 2012, in Coldwater, after meeting her at a Senior Center dance.
Mr. Smoker owned and operated his family farm his entire life. He was a tool and die maker, working at various places in Bronson, including driving school bus. He retired from Douglas Autotech in 2000, where he had served as treasurer of the union for 21 years.
Ralph was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Church. He enjoyed dancing, and in earlier years, going camping, belonging to a local camping group. Ralph was a dedicated family man who loved to stay busy and always lend a helping hand to others.
Ralph is survived by his wife Phyllis of Bronson; his children Diane Elliott of Orland, IN, Deborah (Tom) Losinski of Bronson, Sherri (Tony) Barone of Coldwater; his step children Rebecca (Danny) Cazier of Coldwater, Timothy Barnett of Coldwater, Sandra (Michael) Adolph of Coldwater, Nancy Barnett of Quincy, Roberta (Michael) Hicks of Outwell, IN, Geraldine (Stacey) Billman of Reading; his brother Robert Smoker of Florida; his grandchildren Jenny Himebaugh, John Losinski, Brandon Losinski, Steve Barone, Stephanie Barone and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic School.
