ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – One person was killed, another injured and a suspect is in custody after a stabbing took place during a violent domestic dispute in Angola early Saturday morning.
Angola Police say they were called to the area of Washington and Broad Streets at about 3:40am after several residents called 911 saying they could hear a woman screaming and yelling for help.
Police went to 313 North Washington where they found 30-year-old Michael Abuja dead following the altercation.
The woman, 30-year-old Amber Abuja, was seriously injured in the incident. She was first taken to Cameron Hospital before being transferred to an unnamed hospital in Fort Wayne.
Police then found 32-year-old Edwin Garcia inside an abandoned house in the 300 block of East Gilmore Street. Garcia was taken into custody and is being held in the Steuben County Jail on murder and attempted murder charges pending an initial court hearing. Steuben County Prosecutors have ruled the manner of death was a homicide.
It’s the second murder in the Angola area over the last month.
The case is still under investigation.
