Alice M. Birch, 85, of Coldwater, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Steve Smith officiating.
Visitation will be held, prior to the service Wednesday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home. Interment will take place at a later date at East Gilead Cemetery.
Alice was born May 19, 1938, in Allegan, MI to Roy and Bertha Curtis; she was raised by her uncle and aunt Henry and Berdina Curtis. Alice married Lawrence E. “Butch” Birch on October 8, 1966 in Coldwater, MI.
Mrs. Birch was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She babysat for many years and also had a clothing ironing business.
Alice was a member of the Coldwater Church of the Nazarene. She was a Campfire leader for many years and enjoyed playing bingo, adult coloring and family camping trips, spending time at the Manapogo Park in Orland, IN.
Alice enjoyed the past few years living at Maple Lawn, participating in many of the activities and belonging to the “Ding-A-Ling Club.” Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, looking forward to meeting her newest great grandchild who was born the day before her passing.
Alice is survived by her husband Butch; her children Chris (Bruce) Kanouse of Coldwater, Chad (Jennifer) Birch of Quincy; her grandchildren Courtney Kanouse of Coldwater, Katie (Ryan) Easterwood of Marshall, Eric (Carrie) Kanouse of Coldwater, Nick (Martina) Kanouse of Coldwater; her great grandchildren Oaklynn and Ryder; 6 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Lopshire, and her brothers Robert Curtis and Billy Curtis.
Memorials may be directed to the Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility Activity Fund or ProMedica Cancer Center.
