LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Michigan Attorney Generals Office reports that a defendant in the plot to kidnap and assassinate Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2020, 40-year-old Shawn Fix of Belleville, pled guilty on Wednesday, June 7 to one count of Providing Material Support for a Terroristic Act, which carries 20-year felony sentence.
Fix made entered the plea before Judge Charles Hamlyn of the 13th Circuit Court.
According to the Attorney Generals Office, Fix was facing an additional count, Felony Firearm, which has been dismissed, and his sentencing will take place after the trial of the other 3 defendants.
Fix is among 4 defendants charged in Antrim County for their alleged roles in the plot.
Accused of planning the attack and surveilling the Governor’s personal cottage in Antrim County alongside Fix are Eric Molitor, Michael Null, and William Null.
The three each face one count of Providing Material Support for a Terroristic Act and Felony Firearm.
Their trial is scheduled to begin August 21st, 2023.
