LAKE ODESSA, MI (WTVB) – The season ended for the Coldwater Cardinal baseball team as they lost to Olivet 8-1 in an MHSAA Division 2 Regional Semifinal game played at Lakewood High School in Lake Odessa.
The Eagles scored two quick runs in the top of the first inning, The Cardinals got a run back when Drake Thornton singled to bring home Garrett Johns in the bottom of the fourth. Olivet’s offense erupted for six runs in the fifth inning to chase starting pitcher Cam Heinemann off the mound. The Eagle pitchers held the Cardinals to seven singles.
Coldwater ends its season with a 19-22 record. Olivet, who was ranked 11th in the final coaches poll of the season, improved to 35-3-1 and will face Hamilton Saturday afternoon in a Division 2 Regional Final game at Kalamazoo College. Hamilton advanced by beating Gull Lake 3-1.

Meanwhile, Tekonsha lost to Concord 10-0 in 6 innings in a Division 4 Regional Semifinal game at Colon. The Indians wrapped up their season with a 16-9 record.
