STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – A traffic stop by the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday in Sturgis led to the discovery of crystal methamphetamine.
Undersheriff Jason Bingaman reports deputies stopped a motorcycle on Lafayette Street and found the crystal meth during the stop.
As a result of the traffic stop, deputies conducted a search warrant in the 500 block of Cottage Street where Bingaman says more crystal meth along with firearms were found.
The Sheriff’s Office will be seeking charges against a 60-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man from Sturgis.
Bingaman says, “Drug overdoses continue to be a leading cause of death for people under the age of 50. The Sheriff’s Office is committed to getting those drugs off the street.”
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Sturgis Police Department.
