COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency says there was uptick in flu-like illness and other viruses in February.
Officials say there has been an increase in respiratory illnesses and gastro-intestinal illnesses, as well as other communicable diseases.
Prevention Services Director Kim Wilhelm says it’s typical for the flu to peak in February and March when people spend more time indoors with the windows sealed.
To protect yourself and your family, the health department recommends using good personal hygiene practices such as covering your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough.
You should also disinfect hard surfaces in your home as well as items that are shared by people.
