QUINCY, MI (WTVB) -It’s that time of the year when firefighters get very busy. With the snow cover gone, grass fires break out almost on a daily basis especially when the weather is dry. At least two grass fires were reported in Branch County on Thursday.
Quincy firefighters were dispatched at 2:45 p.m. to a field east of 1031 Annin Road in Butler Township. The fire was put out just over an hour later.
Four departments were dispatched for a large grass fire on West Pearl Road in Bethel Township which was reported at about 3:30 p.m. Some nearby homeowners reported the fire was coming their way about 10 minutes later.
Lakeland Fire Department crews got mutual aid from Bronson, Coldwater and Orland firefighters. The Coldwater Fire Department had to issue an all call at one point. The fire was called under control at about 4:15 p.m.
