COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioners decided during a work session on Thursday that a $75,000 claim made by a Wisconsin man be denied.
A man identified as Charles Bodner from Williams Bay, Wisconsin said in a letter to the Branch County Clerk’s Office that he was exercising his first amendment rights in making the request.
County Administrator Bud Norman said there was no other information supplied in the letter other than a card which requested the money.
On a recommendation from their attorneys, Norman asked Commissioners to deny the claim which would force the letter writer to appear before the Board if he wanted to appeal their decision.
Norman said he would check with other area administrators to see if they have gotten a similar claim. Commissioner Rod Olney thought this was part of a mass mailing.
