Branch County’s best were recognized again by the Coldwater Chamber of Commerce during its 63rd Annual Community Awards last night at the Dearth Center.
Marilyn Ostrander, who has kept busy as a volunteer for the Quincy Chamber of Commerce, Tibbits, and the Branch County Association of Realtors after retiring and relocating to Quincy, was named Citizen of the Year.
Century Bank and Trust was named Business of the Year, while Altrusa Teen Share was the Outstanding Community Program of the Year.
Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence Director Kim Hemker was named Outstanding Public Servant.
Branch Area Careers Center Principal and Director of Career and Technical Education Mike Hoffner, who will be retiring at the end of the school year, was named Educator of the Year.
And just two weeks into his retirement, our own Jim Whelan received the inaugural Chamber Legacy Award.
