COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Electric customers for the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities will see an average rate increase of 2% beginning September 1.
The increase was approved by the Coldwater City Council Monday night, after similar approval by the CBPU Board of Trustees July 5.
The move came after an Electric Cost of Service study commissioned by the CBPU to look at current rates and future needs for the utility.
While the overall rate increase spread across all electric customers, the increase for the CBPU’s 5,900 residential customers will actually be 3%, which for the average customer will be a $3.00 per month hike.
