COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – While the original fear was freezing rain in the overnight hours of Monday night to Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service has now revised it’s prediction to just snow Tuesday. A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until 1:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Meterologists now say a wintry mix of freezing rain and snow will develop by mid morning and change to snow by mid afternoon Tuesday. Total snowfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible by late evening. Ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch are possible.
Roads are expected to become snow and ice covered by this afternoon, and the evening commute could be hazardous.
Heavy snowfall did develop north of Branch County in the early morning hours Tuesday, causing many school closings in Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Jackson, Eaton, and Ingham counties.
