UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – It was estimated that over 2,000 people attended Saturday’s 100 Dam Years Celebration as the Village of Union City marked the Riley Dam turning 100 years old.
Village officials think Saturday’s celebration rivaled the one that took place in 1923 when the dam opened.
The band Bayou County performed on the berm of the dam and fireworks followed immediately after their show.
There were tours of the dam on Saturday afternoon. A monument honoring the dam’s 100 years was also dedicated.
A video has been posted on the Village of Union City’s Facebook page.
