COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After almost 42 years as reporter, anchor, and News Director for WTVB, Jim Whelan will get a chance to sleep in beginning next week. After tipping off the Branch County Board of Commissioners at their meeting Tuesday, Whelan made the official announcement on-air Wednesday.
Whelan was hired by Paul and Mirt Ruse to work for Tri State Broadcasting in Coldwater in 1974. Tri State was acquired by Midwest Communications, Inc in 1995.
A public retirement reception for Whelan will be held later this spring.
