COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A new business will be opening later this week in the Fairfield Plaza at the former location of the Coldwater Family Fare grocery store.
“Locally Market” will be conducting a soft opening this Friday, August 4 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m..
Plans call for the store to offer an in house scratch bakery with locally sourced grocery, frozen and dairy products.
For now, “Locally Market” will have a Pop Up Food Lab which is a very limited and temporary version of what will eventually be the full market.
Hours will be limited for the first few weeks. Once the owners feel comfortable with the quantity of product they have, they plan to extend their days open.
“Locally Market” will be owned by Sam AcMoody and Tya Mendelsohn.
AcMoody started Butternut Ridge Beef with his father Phil which has grown into a year-round business and soon was selling wholesale to local restaurants and a college cafeteria.
Mendelsohn has been working in the food and retail industry for almost 14 years.
The Family Fare store closed in May of 2021 after SpartanNash had operated a store on North Marshall in Coldwater for over 60 years. The store was a Felpausch before it became Family Fare in 2007.
