COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Junior Baseball and Softball Tournament at the Branch County Fair starts on Monday evening with four nights of games scheduled.
As the name would indicate, the annual tournament which is held in the southeast corner of the Fairgrounds has undergone some changes.
In the past, there have only been baseball teams from Quincy, Union City, Bronson and Coldwater competing.
Organizer Andy Craig says they expanded the tournament this year to include girls softball teams.
They were hoping to get rec and club sides included but Craig says local club teams did not commit so they had to change up the tournament a bit.
There will be one game on Monday at 7:00 p.m. as Bronson will face Hillsdale in a 12U baseball contest.
Tuesday’s schedule will have Quincy against Village Baseball in a 12U baseball game at 5:30 p.m. followed by Quincy against Hillsdale in a 12U softball game.
10U baseball teams from Quincy and Colon will play at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday followed by the 12U baseball title game pitting the winners from the Monday and Tuesday contests.
The only game on Thursday will start at 5:30 p.m. with Quincy facing Angola in a 10U softball contest.
Quincy won last year’s Junior Baseball championship with a 3-0 record in the round robin tournament.
