COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Samantha Smoker and Mason Foley were crowned as the 2023 Branch County Fair Queen and King during opening night ceremonies at the Dearth Community Center on Sunday night.
Smoker is a 2023 Bronson High School graduate and is the daughter of Jason and Angela Marx. She is the president the All American Happy Workers 4-H Club. During her 4-H career, Smoker has shown rabbits, chickens, turkeys, starter calves, swine and beef. She plans to attend Michigan State University in the fall and seek a bachelor’s degree in animal science with plans on becoming a veterinarian.
Foley is from Coldwater and is the son of Glen and Courtney Foley. He has been a 4-H member for 11 years and is a member of the Boots N Jeans 4-H Club. Foley plans to attend Lansing Community College and then transfer to Michigan State University to complete his degree in veterinarian medicine.
Smoker and Foley talked about their favorite memories of the fair.
The members of the court are Katie Bailey, Shannon Rossman, Jackson Preston and Blaine Pish.
The second day of the Branch County Fair will include the Beef Show and Dairy Starter Calves as well as Western Ponies and Horses in the Horse Arena.
Monday night’s show in the Amphitheater will feature Street Legal Pickups and Semis Pulls.
The Junior Baseball and Softball Tournament are also scheduled to start on Monday evening.
