ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Authorities have released the names of the two victims in Saturday night’s double homicide in St. Joseph County where it’s believed they were shot by 30-year-old David Algarin Junior, who later died in what is being called an officer involved shooting in Branch County.
Investigators released the identities of the victims during a press conference at the St. Joseph County Training Center in Centerville on Monday, August 7.
Both 38-year-old Stacy Ramsey and 61-year-old Jerry Longacre were found by law enforcement at two separate locations following the shootings.
Algarin was spotted on Sunday morning, August 6 in the city of Sturgis by Sturgis Police officers, who began a pursuit of the suspect along with deputies from the St Joseph County Sheriff’s Department.
The pursuit ended in an officer involved shooting in Branch County resulting in the death of the Algarin.
According to St. Joseph County Undersheriff Jason Bingaman, St. Joseph County Central Dispatch did have contact with him during the pursuit.
As the pursuit involved multiple agencies in different jurisdictions, Undersherrif Bingaman praised the efforts of those who brought the incident to a close with no other additional injuries despite the final outcome.
The shooting is currently being investigated by the Michigan State Police as per protocal.
