MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – Public safety officers face all kinds of dangers on the open road, including some unexpected ones. Calhoun County Sheriff Sergeant Brent Lincoln responded to a call to investigate a burning vehicle on northbound I-69 near Marshall at about 4 p.m. Thursday. He found a semi-tractor trailer parked by the side of the highway with the rear tires on the trailer fully engulfed in flames.
As Lincoln walked up to the vehicle, one of the tires exploded, projecting a big chunk of burning rubber right into his torso. He was rushed to Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo, where he was treated and released.
