Sherry S. McNees, 73, of Coldwater, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Bethel Gilead Community Church with Pastor Jim Erwin officiating. Interment will follow at East Gilead Cemetery.
Visitation will be held, prior to the service, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Gilead Community Church.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Sherry was born September 5, 1949, in Coldwater, MI to Lyle and Mary (Hanshaw) Modert. She married Michael K. McNees on August 15, 1970, in Bronson, MI. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2015.
Mrs. McNees worked in the Bronson Community School System as a Paraprofessional for many years. She later worked at Mattingly Foods, and then went to Ryan Elementary where she worked in the kitchen until her retirement.
Sherry was an active member of Bethel Gilead Church where she helped with church camps and many other activities. She belonged to the Coldwater Elks and volunteered with the Bronson Food Pantry, where she had served on the board.
Sherry enjoyed cooking and loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Sherry is survived by her children Melissa (Neal) McDonald of Bronson, Corey (Angela) McNees of Coldwater; her siblings Judy Modert of Coldwater, Jake (Kandy Fickle) Modert of Coldwater, Terry “Moose” (Kathy) Modert of Coldwater; her grandchildren Courtney (Adam) Cole, Alexis (Ralph) Waterman; her great grandchildren Rosie Cole, Lukas Waterman, Oren Cole and Sophia Waterman.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law Cindy Modert.
