QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – In high school varsity girls basketball Thursday, Quincy lost at home to Jonesville 61-27 with 6 points apiece for Allison Parshall and Zoe Aseltine along with 9 rebounds for Parshall. The Orioles drop to 0-9 in the conference and 0-15 overall.
Also in the Big Eight, Union City went down to defeat at Reading 46-41. Kiley Spenelli had 14 points in the loss for the Chargers while Allison Adams added a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Union City struggled at the line, hitting just 16 of their 36 free throw attempts. The Chargers slip to 3-12 overall and 2-7 in league play.
Tekonsha fell at home to Waldron 52-20. Alexis Newbold led the Indians in the loss with 9 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 blocks.
In reserve basketball last night, the Coldwater girls teams lost their games at Parma Western. The host Panthers took the junior varsity contest 51-37 with a double-double for Coldwater’s Emilee Smoker, who had 14 points and 18 rebounds. The Lady Cardinals lost the freshman game 32-24 with 12 points and 7 steals for Valy Yaldo.
In the boys freshman game at Coldwater, the Cardinals lost to Parma Western 60-45 with 11 points for Bryce Lafferty and 10 for Michael Kubel. The JV team lost to Parma Western 69-46. Leading scorer was Ethan Wiley with 18 followed by Brent Smoker with 8 and Ryan Murphy with 7.
Tonight in high school sports, in varsity Boys and Girls basketball, it’s Coldwater on the road for an Interstate Eight Conference matchup with Parma Western. Both games will air on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB with live coverage beginning around 5:30 p.m. The girls open the doubleheader with their tip-off at 6 p.m. with the boys action set to start around 7:30 p.m.
Also in boys and girls hoops tonight, it’s Bronson vs. New Buffalo with the boys playing in New Buffalo while girls face off in Bronson. In boys only games, Quincy hosts Jonesville, Union City is at Reading and Tekonsha is at Waldron.
In middle school sports, last night in Girls basketball, Bronson’s 7th and 8th grade teams won their games at White Pigeon. The Lady Vikings beat the Chiefs in the 8th grade contest 30-22 with 8 points apiece for Keona Salesman and Alanna Mayer along with 13 rebounds for Salesman.
Bronson took the 7th grade game 30-4 with 11 points for Meagan Lasky.
