COLON, MI (WTVB) – A Colon man has been killed in a pickup truck accident in St. Joseph County where Sheriff’s deputies report alcohol and speed are suspected to have been factors in the crash. The 33-year old victim was found dead alone in his truck last night in Colon Township along Farrand Road near Paradise Road. Deputies were called to the scene southwest of the Village of Colon around 8:45 p.m.
The preliminary investigation shows the pickup was northbound and failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the roadway, striking several trees. The driver, whose name has not yet been released, was ejected and wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
