COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In anticipation of a larger than usual audience, it has been posted on the Branch County web site that next Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners meeting has been changed from the Branch County Courthouse to the Burnside Center meeting room on Grahl Drive.
The meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m.. A large crowd is anticipated as the Commissioners are scheduled to take formal action on a resolution confirming that Branch County is already Constitutional County.
They decided to bring the resolution forward during their August 3 work session which attracted an overflow crowd to the Commission Chambers at the courthouse.
Audience members expressed their feelings both in favor and against the proposed resolution. Some offered passionate comments which led to some tense moments both inside and outside of the Commission Chambers.
Also on next Tuesday’s agenda will be formal action by Commissioners on a request from Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility to approve a second $250,000 advance with repayment by May 1, 2024.
The money would be used to help get Maple Lawn through August as they have a three payroll month.
In addition, Maple Lawn is waiting for $1-point-4 million from the State of Michigan based on Medicaid Rate setting and Medicaid cost reports.
