STEUBEN COUNTY, IN (WTVB) – The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the driver who was killed in a August 2 fatal crash on Fox Lake Road.
They were notified by the Steuben County Coroner’s Office on Friday that the deceased driver was identified as 23-year-old Blayne Lee Marple of Angola.
The Sheriff’s Office says he was positively identified through DNA analysis.
According to the Coroner’s Office, Marple died as a result of blunt force trauma and thermal injuries.
The Sheriff’s Department said at the time of the crash that it was determined Marple’s vehicle was traveling west at what appeared to be high rate of speed. As he was negotiating a curve, the vehicle went off the road causing the driver to over correct.
The vehicle then began to yaw and slide out of control before colliding with a utility pole and catching fire.
