COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Sheriff John Pollack has donated most of his salary increase for 2016 to the Humane Society of Branch County. Pollack and the rest of the county’s elected officials received a 1.8% pay hike which he declined but nonetheless, it’s taken effect.
Pollack told the Branch County Board of Commissioners yesterday he wanted to pass along the salary increase to a worthy cause, which turned out to be the Humane Society for their major contributions of time and effort in the aftermath of the fire last May that heavily damaged the County Animal Control Shelter building. Pollack Tuesday turned the $500 check over to Jan Negeldinger, director of the Humane Society to be used for the agency’s spade and neuter program.
Also at yesterday’s County Commission meeting, 2nd District Commissioner Dale Swift of Bronson announced he would not be seeking re-election of a 7th term in office.
