COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A couple of fund raising events are scheduled to take place this weekend in Branch County.
The Awesome Branch County Challenge for local youngsters will be held Saturday morning at the Branch County Fairgrounds.
It returned last year after being cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was held for three years before the back-to-back COVID-19 cancellations.
The Coldwater High School Interact Club organizes the event which has nearly two dozen sponsors and partners. It attracts hundreds of participants as the ABC Challenge is designed to be a fun event for kids of all ages.
The funds raised from the event are donated back to various local school and community organizations. More information can be found at www.abcchallenge.org.
Meanwhile, an annual benefit for the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence will be held Sunday afternoon at the Naomi Davis Shelterhouse on Michigan Avenue.
The Sue Nagle “Help from Above” Golf Ball Drop will be part of an open house at the Shelterhouse as they plan to show off the new Child Advocacy Center. Activities will start at 2:00 p.m. with the golf ball drop at around 5:30 p.m.
Tickets are ten dollars apiece for those 18 and over. They will be sold at the open house. Tickets are available at Culy’s Jewelry, Dally Tire, the Naomi Davis Shelterhouse, the Hope Cafe and the Chameleon.
The ball that lands closest to the pin wins $1,000. Second prize is $500. Furthest from the pin is worth $250. You need not be present to win.
