COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved an offer on Monday night from a Quincy area couple to pay $2,500 for a vacant lot owned by the City of Coldwater at 29 Lawton Avenue.
Ray and Jessica Tefft, through an LLC, made the offer with plans to build a new single family residence on the site that at one time housed their grandmother.
Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker said during the Council’s July 24 meeting the property has changed hands several times.
The now defunct Habitat for Humanity of Branch County bought the property at one time for $1,500.
The Council agreed with a motion made by Travis Machan during the July meeting that a house has to be built on the property within five years.
The lot is about 77 feet in width by 132 feet in depth and it’s felt the parcel is sufficiently sized for a new residential structure.
