The fire reportedly started in the basement before spreading upstairs. There were reports of smoke and heavy flames coming out of the back of the home as firefighters raced to the scene.
Quincy Fire Chief Mike Sherman says conditions deteriorated quickly after firefighters arrived. The intensity of the flames forced firefighters to go into a defensive mode at 10:17 a.m..
Eventually, the fire was called under control at 11:33 a.m..
No injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze is not known yet but Sherman said it was not suspicious in nature.
Bronson firefighters were requested to cover the Coldwater Fire Station at one point.
Tankers were called in to haul water and a portion of U.S. 12 between Maple and Squires Roads had to be shut down to traffic.
