BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Summer maybe slipping away on the calendar as we head into September but some of the hottest weather of the season is expected to take place during the Labor Day holiday weekend and beyond.
The National Weather Service says it will be a steamy holiday weekend with highs in the mid 80s on Saturday and in the low 90s on Sunday and Labor Day as a heat wave takes hold.
It will not cool off after the holiday with highs in the low 90s expected on Tuesday and near 90 degrees on Wednesday with a slight chance of showers.
The heat wave is expected to end on Thursday with thunderstorms and cooler highs in the low 80s.
The weather is expected to remain dry into the middle part of next week after 2.19 inches of rain was measured during the month of August at the M.S.U. Extension Service weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm.
The August rainfall total was a far cry from a soggy July when that location measured nearly 6-point-7 inches of rain.
