GILEAD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Ground has been broken for the building that will house the Bronson Fire Department’s new satellite fire station and the Gilead Township Hall at the intersection of Gilead Lake and Southern Roads.
Any questions regarding the new satellite station or the new Township Hall can be asked during a meeting on Monday. September 11 at the current Gilead Township Hall.
There will be a lot of donated work for the project. Bronson Fire Chief Scott Wilber says Rusty Smith is donating his time to coordinate the contractors, Dan Hershberger Construction is donating labor to put up the building and Chuck Shimp Excavating is also donating labor.
The $140,000 satellite fire station was approved in June during the Bronson Area Fire Association’s annual budget meeting.
It’s hoped the construction can be done by the end of the year. Gilead, Noble, Bethel, and Bronson Townships will be funding the cost of construction.
