COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Officials at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility and Rehabilitation have been dealing with an increasing number of COVID-19 cases in recent weeks.
Administrator Jayne Sabaitis says since August 20, they have had seven staff members and three residents test positive for COVID-19.
But the situation seems to be getting better at Maple Lawn. Sabaitis said on Wednesday they currently have two residents still on precautions which will end on Friday.
In addition, three of the seven staff are back to work. The others will return by this weekend.
Health Officer Rebecca Burns told the Community Health Agency Board of Health on August 24 that while the Public Health Emergency has ended there are still cases of COVID-19 being reported.
It’s hard to track exact numbers as states are no longer required to report numbers to the CDC but there have been numerous reports in recent weeks that COVID-19 infections have increased.
Hospitalizations and deaths have gone up and the virus is being detected more frequently in wastewater samples.
